Message from Blas Director Dr. Breandán de Gallaí:

I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as the new Director of the 27th Blas International Summer School of Irish Traditional Music and Dance which will take place from 19th to 30th June 2023.

Whilst the Blas will be the enriching and enjoyable summer school it has always been, providing world-class teaching and performances, my own vision is to marry a personal and deep knowledge of traditional music and dance with my interest in the contemporisation of Irish artistic practices.

The Blas team are looking forward to welcoming this year’s cohort of musicians and dancers to the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick and to unveiling and implementing our exciting plans.
